Theme Day

Today is theme day within the City Daily Photo Blog family, and the theme this month is "Take a photo from the waist down".

I mentioned the President's coming to campus a while back. This was taken at the protest that occured during his stay. I shot the photo while trying to get through the crowd to take a picture of the U.S. Marshall.

I'm not going to say much about it because I don't want to get into politics, only that I was rather alarmed that there would be people who would bring their young children...

More than 50 other daily photo blogs are participating in today's theme day. Click the links below to see more examples from around the world:

Thats a great shot-well spotted. I couldn't disagree with the sentiment but I hate it when people use their kids this way

Wow, excellent. If I had to choose I would take yours!

Now, now. Let's be fair...Bush is NOT a mass murderer.

Cheney, Rumsfeld and Perle are! Bush is just an arrogant, know-nothing, good ole boy that passes off all the decisions.

Interesting that this person expresses the sentiment on her sign but holds a cigarette in her hand... also a form of mass murder, but done slowly over time.

LoL. I love it. Fantastic portrayal of the theme. Even though it's probably not best to involve children to this subject matter, I think I will be doing the same :)

The best photo of this day. Peace shouldn't be in hands of stupid men.

Great shot.

I like that you posted this Victoria. And bravo Susan, exactly right though Bush still has responsability even if he's just pretending to run the show.

I like what you said Irredento. These are not people who even believe in peace and they are not people who should be trusted with power.

Of course there would be kids here, and I can't see the problem as long as the child isn't asked to sing along, shout or hold a banner. This one is much too young for any of this so that's fine.

Good photo and good idea !

PS - I am really pleased about the debate that this photo started. I don't think kids should be removed from their parents' lives, politics is not a rude word.

Thanks to Irredento.

I echo irrendeto, best of all :)

I agree with Natalie, pretty much.

a young politician in the making?

Our son always went with us in his stroller when we went to a protest march. Who else was going to mind him? It's not "using your kids" - it's just life.

Now he's old enough to make up his own mind whether he wants to walk!

Wow, I can't believe there were so many responses to this photo. I'm very pleased by the discussion it sparked! It's so interesting to hear everyone's views.
